Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 September 2026.

The short version

Cross Stitch Group is a free pattern library. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to download a pattern. We keep the little data we do collect to a minimum, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

Standard server logs

Like any website, our host records each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the time. We use this to understand roughly how many people visit, on what kind of device, and which patterns are popular. These logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.

Patterns you submit

If you submit a pattern through our form, we store what you enter — including your name, email address, and any links you provide — so we can review the submission and credit you. We use your email only to contact you about that submission.

Saved patterns

Patterns you save with the heart icon are stored in your own browser. They never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Cookies and advertising

We may display ads from Google AdSense to keep the patterns free. If we do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads and measure their performance. Where consent is required — including in the UK, the EU and Switzerland — we ask you first, and we only enable personalised advertising cookies if you accept.

If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalised using cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the choice back.

You can review and adjust Google's own advertising settings at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the site: Google Firebase and Google Cloud for hosting, storage and logs, and — if ads are enabled — Google AdSense for advertising. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EU or another region with similar laws, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. For submitted patterns, email us and we will remove your details.

Because server logs are keyed only to an IP address and deleted after 30 days, we are usually unable to identify which entries belong to you.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the homepage.
